Event Details

The 2020 Census will be here before we know it and its impact on community resources and political representation is significant. Because of that, we want to make sure ALL of our communities are counted. And, feel safe doing so.

Join us this Wednesday for a community engagement session in partnership with the City of Minneapolis for We Count: Immigrants & Refugees. Dinner, childcare, & translation will be provided!

Topics that will be addressed include: How does the census impact me as an immigrant or refugee? What is the State doing to keep all of us safe? How is my information kept confidential from ICE, the FBI, my landlord, etc.? What if I’m undocumented? How can I get involved? With so many attempts at pushing us into hiding, how are we standing with each other in solidarity?

Come with your questions, concerns, and ideas as you hear from the panelists below about why it is so critical that EVERYONE is engaged and counted in the 2020 Census.

Confirmed panelists:

  • Alondra Cano, Minneapolis City Council
  • Monica Hurtado, Voices for Racial Justice
  • John Keller, Minnesota State Attorney General’s Office
  • Nelima Sitati Munene, ACER (African Career, Education & Resource, Inc.)
